The older Melanie gets, the more she is expressing her opinion! She has definite likes and dislikes - and she isn't afraid to tell you about them!
For instance, she HATES getting her hands and face wiped clean after mealtime! (see picture above). But as soon as that "torture" is over, she is happy and playful again!
We also gave her zwiebak (?spelling) toast (with some soft, spreadable cheese) for the first time this weekend. Oh boy, did she love it!?! At first, she licked it like a lollipop. She really LOVES cheese! Then she started to gnaw, scrape and bite it. That kept her occupied for at least 10 minutes, while mommy waited and watched and waited... At one point, she actually bite off a piece. We were very worried that she would choke! We tried to get the piece out of her mouth, but she cried - she wanted to chew and eat it. So we let her, keeping a close watch and she did it! What a good chewer!

We also gave Melanie her FIRST cookie (an arrowroot cookie) this weekend! She really loved that, too. Here's a short video clip:
